About us
Set in the idyllic grounds of Anna Pavlova's estate, there is a long tradition of performance here, whether it be ballet from the above or theatre from the New College of Speech and Drama which built the original theatre. Now fully refurbished for the work still to come.

Our Story
1962
The New College of Speech and Drama
An independent performing arts college in North London co-founded by Pauline Stuart, opens its doors. Among its alumni are Helen Mirren.
1974
The New College merges
The New College merges with Middlesex Polytechnic, officially becoming Middlesex University in 1992.
2006
The King Alfred School
The King Alfred School purchases the theatre and the Ivy Wood site.
2015
development and refurbishment
Under its new Headmaster, Robert Lobatto and Artistic Director, Robert Messik, the theatre undergoes development and refurbishment.
